Teachers' WORKSHOP PROGRAMME (World Space Week 2023)

ISRO Centres in Kerala (VSSC, LPSC and IISU) have been organizing special programmes for teachers and students as part of World Space Week celebrations since 2002. A ‘Teachers' Workshop’ programme for science teachers of High School (HS) & Higher Secondary School (HSS) is organised this year as part of WSW celebrations. The programme intends to enlighten teachers through lectures related to ‘Space’ and facility visit at ISRO centres. This would in turn enable them to kindle scientific temper among students. The programme will be conducted during the World Space Week viz. October 4 to 10, 2023.The Teachers' Workshop programme is planned on 6th October, 2023 at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Trivandrum from 09:00AM to 05:00PM.

Guidelines

  • Teachers' Workshop programme is planned on 6th October, 2023 from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

  • Each school can register the name of one science teacher for the programme.

  • A formal letter of consent from the head of the institution shall be furnished while appearing for the programme.

  • Participants shall carry valid ID proof for verification purpose (same as entered in google form during registration). Without valid ID proof, participants will not be allowed to enter VSSC campus.

  • It is requested not to change the nomination once submitted. Any change in nomination (due to unavoidable circumstances) after initial registration, shall be formally communicated to the focal points.

  • There are only limited seats available for the event. Schools are requested to complete registration at the earliest.

  • Confirmation e-mail will be sent to the selected participants by 25th September 2023.

  • Travel expenses for the programme shall be taken care by the respective institutions / teachers.

  • Transport arrangements for pick-up (before 8AM) & drop (after 5 PM) for the confirmed participants from identified pick-up points in Trivandrum shall be arranged on 6th October, 2023.

  • All participants have to reach VSSC by 8.15 AM

  • The exact boarding points and time of boarding shall be informed in advance.

  • Due to the security restrictions, electronic gadgets including mobile phones, cameras, pendrives, smart watches,etc are not permitted inside the VSSC premises. However, mobile phone locker facility will be arranged for outstation participants.

Programme Schedule for Teachers Workshop

  • Participants will be picked up in the morning from their respective boarding points by ISRO buses and brought to Project Complex by 08:15 AM, in VSSC campus, Thiruvananthapuram, accompanied by our volunteers.(Exact boarding point & time of pick-up will be intimated in advance to selected participants through confirmation email.)

  • After registration, light refreshment, Kit distribution and group photography is arranged.

  • The workshop includes lecture sessions on Space Science & technology and the Indian Space programme, visit to the Space Museum and an interaction session with senior ISRO scientists.

  • The programme shall end at 16:45 hrs.

  • After the programme the participants will be dropped back to their respective boarding points by 18:00 hrs.
